Financial Counselor

We are seeking a highly skilled Personal Financial Counselor to join our team at Magellan Health in Detroit, MI. As a key member of our team, you will provide personal financial services to military service members and their families at assigned military installations.

• Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
• Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
• Develop and make available informational financial materials to service members and families.
• Coordinate, publicize, and provide a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops.
• Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
• Possess the skills to effectively utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication.
• Manage duty to warn situations according to Department of Defense (DoD) protocol.
• Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision.
• Participate in regular in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned/appropriate.

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and speak fluent English.
• May be required to work outside of traditional office hours to support business needs.
• Be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
• Must have one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
• Must have over a thousand hours of financial counseling experience.
