Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Worker I to join our team at the City of Oakdale, CA. As a key member of our Parks and Facilities department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance, inspections, and repairs on parks, park equipment, park buildings, structures, and grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate trucks, mowers, and other light equipment to maintain park facilities and grounds.
  • Prepare and maintain ball fields, including clearing, grading, fertilizing, and watering.
  • Assist in the installation, operation, and maintenance of in-ground sprinkler systems.
  • Perform custodial services for parks and facilities, including cleaning and repairing floors, restrooms, and removing trash.
  • Assist in the preparation of surfaces for painting and apply paint, varnish, shellac, enamel, or other protective finishes to various surfaces.
  • Assist in pouring concrete and construct or repair walls, platforms, and ramps.
  • Perform safety inspections of park amenities, including playgrounds and sports facilities.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and ensure the proper maintenance of equipment and tools.
  • Assist other Parks, Facility, and Recreation staff as necessary.
  • Interact with the public and maintain and enforce City rules.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
