The Role

We are looking for an experienced and innovative Senior Java Full Stack Engineer to serve our diverse base of global clients. As a member of our team, you will work in a diverse, collaborative, geographically distributed team. The ideal candidate is an expert engineer who values the "team," drives continuous improvement, and is unafraid to challenge the legacy status quo with creative cloud-based solutions.

The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of Java/J2EE, web application/service development experience and should be able to design scalable architecture for Service-oriented Applications. They should have experience developing REST and SOAP Web Services development and should have good knowledge on SOA and KAFKA implementations.

The candidate should have experience with Spring Framework, Spring-MVC, Spring Boot & Hibernate implementation. They should also have full-stack development experience using modern UI stack technologies like Angular, React, etc. Experience with Continuous Integration Tools such as Jenkins, Artifactory or other tools is also required.

The candidate should have experience working in Agile-based Scrum development teams using tools like JIRA, Confluence, and GIT. Good communication and client coordination skills are also required. Database development skills including SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, CockroachDB, and database performance tuning are also necessary.

The candidate should have knowledge of container apps and container Platform as a Service (PaaS) technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker. Hands-on experience provisioning Infrastructure as Code is also required. Experience with Terraform and/or Ansible is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the continued functionality and reliability of legacy codebases through troubleshooting and necessary updates.
  • Collaborate with the team to support modernization efforts, including refactoring, rewriting, and integrating new technologies for improved performance and maintainability.
  • Develop comprehensive test cases and conduct unit testing to verify the quality and robustness of code changes.
  • Actively contribute innovative ideas and solutions for modernization projects, identifying areas for improvement and proposing forward-looking strategies.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams, adapt to different programming languages and technologies, and communicate ideas and changes clearly to team members.
  • Work closely with other team members to establish governance, enforce security, and define standards.
  • Assist in evaluating new technologies in the cloud space to drive efficiencies, improve process, and help support business initiatives.
  • Align with application development to help teams with design, build, test, and deployment activities.
  • Continually drive towards improvement of the product cloud infrastructure and ecosystem.
  • Identify manual processes that can be automated and provide suggestions for improvement.
  • Support automated release tools to allow for CI/CD.
  • Troubleshoot code and assist with the resolution of coding issues when needed, including React and/or Angular.
Qualifications
  • Experience building complex systems.
  • Proficiency in algorithms and their application to optimize software performance.
  • Highly analytical mindset, capable of dissecting complex problems and finding efficient solutions.
  • At least 8 years of Java/J2EE, web application/service development experience and should be able to design scalable architecture for Service-oriented Applications.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $81,337K - $141, 500K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
