Position Overview:
The facility is seeking a skilled Travel Nurse RN to provide care for patients with various medical conditions, including respiratory issues, sepsis, end-of-life care, oncology, and gastrointestinal concerns.
Specialized Equipment:
The role involves using specialized tools such as bladder scanners, interpreters, vein viewers, and rectal probe monitors. A relaxation room is available for staff, equipped with a massage chair for stress relief.
Unit Systems:
Familiarity with Omnicell, EPIC, and bedside standardized shift reporting is essential. Orientation for the unit includes a comprehensive 36-hour training program, which covers a facility tour, computer modules, and hands-on experience on the floor.
Experience Requirements:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical setting.
Traveler Experience:
First-time travelers are not eligible. Local candidates are welcome.
Compensation Details:
Travelers residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility will experience a rate adjustment.
Essential Skills:
Proficiency in Med/Surg nursing, feeding tube management, peripheral line care, IV initiation, nasal cannula usage, and familiarity with EPIC is required.
Shift Information:
Target nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5-6, with 12-hour night shifts from 7 PM to 7:30 AM.
Call and Float Requirements:
There are no on-call duties, but floating to other units, including ICU and ED, is expected on a bi-weekly basis.
Weekend Commitment:
Every other weekend is mandatory.
Additional Notes:
Travelers must work during major winter holidays. The unit has specific policies regarding time-off requests during holiday periods.
Floating Expectations:
Flexibility to assist in floating to ICU, ED, and other medical-surgical units is required. Patient assignments will align with clinical expertise and team assignments.
Eligibility Criteria:
Previous employees of any facility associated with the health system are not eligible for traveler positions.
