EXPLOSIVES TECHNICIAN

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS AN EXPLOSIVES TECHNICIAN

As an Explosives Technician, you arrive at each assignment prepared to engage in the tasks at hand. You begin by performing field assessments to ascertain the type and volume of explosives required for the operation. With a keen eye for detail, you interpret drilling patterns, guidelines, and schematics. You effectively relay this information to all team members on-site to ensure everyone is informed and ready to fulfill their responsibilities. You organize and execute detonations while conducting thorough pre- and post-detonation safety evaluations for each blasting event. Your organizational capabilities aid in the completion of all necessary documentation.

For every project, you adhere to client policies and ensure that your team complies as well. Alongside the appropriate personnel, you manage client inquiries, blast area incidents, and public concerns. You thrive on the dynamic nature of being an Explosives Technician, yet you remain vigilant about safety. Your extensive knowledge of explosives allows you to operate securely, minimizing the risk of accidents or injuries.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum age of 21 as per ATF regulations
  • Valid blaster's license
  • Familiarity with all initiation systems, laser profiling, and seismographs
  • Capability to lift over 50 lbs.
  • Commitment to a drug-free workplace
  • Compliance with all state and federal explosive regulations and qualification as an ATF explosives possessor
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
