Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SW Applications Engineer to join our team in Owings Mills, MD. This is a hybrid position that requires developing software for controls or electrical systems. The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of professional experience with software development, proficiency in Object Oriented Programming languages such as C++, C#, Java, or Python, and experience with Modbus and BACnet protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Develop code to monitor and control electrical and mechanical devices to deliver ventilation, steam, chilled water, hot water, and humidification.
  • Resolve programming problems by clarifying the project manager's complaint, determining the cause of the problem, selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem, expediting correction or adjustment, and following up to ensure resolution.
  • Contribute to the team effort in innovation, troubleshooting, and developing various aspects of BMS systems.
  • Promote, build, and maintain good relations with customers, consultants, and project management; keep the supervisor informed of needs and actual or potential problems.
  • Provide technical guidance and support, including set-up, check-out, operation, and troubleshooting of complex building automation and control systems; verify the functional performance of systems.
  • Provide recommendations on equipment and systems operation and modification for energy conservation, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Perform emergency connections to neutralize alarm conditions and restore proper operation.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of professional experience with software development, proficiency in Object Oriented Programming languages, and experience with Modbus and BACnet protocols.
  • Bachelor of Science or Associate of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience working on Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Experience with MQTT/RabbitMQ, Windows, and SQL.
  • Knowledge of Tridium (Generic Controls frontend).
  • Experience within HVAC or electrical fields is ideal.
