Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Florida Medical Clinic Orlando Health. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in assisting our ophthalmologists and retina providers in providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive eye exams, including visual acuity, manual lensometry, and pupillary function tests
  • Assist physicians with laser procedures and minor surgery, maintaining sterile technique and infection control standards
  • Triaging patients, determining which patients should be seen next, and escorting patients to and from testing areas
  • Providing telephone support for ocular emergencies, prescription refills, and patient care
  • Maintaining a smooth flow of patients to the physician, altering test sequences as required
  • Auditing clinical supply levels and communicating with the lead ophthalmic technician to ensure adequate stock
  • Performing other duties as required, including instrument maintenance, archiving, and administrative tasks
Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent
  • Strong customer service orientation and team player skills
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to refract and perform other testing as needed
  • 1 year minimum experience required
  • Must be willing to travel
