The Precision Surveying Technician plays a vital role in the precise layout and physical coordination of construction projects, including plumbing and HVAC installations. This position involves setting up building corners, establishing setbacks, and executing 3D scanning tasks as necessary to ensure ongoing productivity across various job sites. Collaboration with field teams, supervisors, and project managers is essential for success.

Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize the total station instrument to accurately measure distances, angles, and elevations in accordance with project specifications.
- Assemble and calibrate the total station instrument to ensure precise measurements.
- Collect survey data, including horizontal and vertical measurements, while maintaining high standards of productivity and safety in diverse working conditions.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on the total station to guarantee its accuracy and reliability, ensuring it is clean and properly calibrated.
- Verify collected survey data to detect any discrepancies during the construction phase.
- Transfer and process survey data into relevant software applications for analysis and reporting.
- Prepare detailed reports, including measurement logs and equipment maintenance records.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to meet project goals and ensure seamless coordination of construction activities.
- Be prepared to travel to various job sites as required.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in surveying or geomatics is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience operating total station instruments is highly desirable, particularly in construction or engineering contexts.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with the construction industry and subcontractor trades is essential, along with a strong grasp of surveying techniques and data collection methods.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating and calibrating total station instruments, with knowledge of relevant software and data processing tools. Strong mathematical and analytical skills are crucial.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a talent for building relationships with various stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Capability to identify and resolve equipment issues promptly.
- Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and meet company insurance requirements.
