Job Summary:

We are seeking an Aquatic Life Specialist to join our team at the Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach. As an Aquatic Life Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining animal enrichment programs, creating engaging public presentations, and ensuring the well-being of the animals in our care.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement animal enrichment programs to promote the physical and mental health of the animals
  • Create engaging public presentations to educate guests about the importance of aquatic life conservation
  • Maintain accurate records of animal feedings, vaccinations, and other important information
  • Collaborate with department managers to ensure uniform protocols are followed
  • Assist in emergency procedures and respond to situations that may impact the safety of the animals or staff
  • Perform daily backwashing requirements in the pumproom and maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Participate in training and cross-training programs to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Ensure compliance with hotel credit policies and maintain accurate records of expenses
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and management to ensure seamless operations

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Certified Open Water diver or equivalent by a recognized SCUBA certification agency
  • Previous experience in large aquarium settings and animal training highly desirable
  • College coursework in related fields (Marine Biology, Zoology, Ocean Sciences) helpful
  • Familiarity with current Union contract rulings
  • Valid driver's license for the applicable state
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds safely
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently

Salary Information:

The estimated salary range for this position is $23.82 per hour.
