Job Description

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a senior structural engineer to join our Water group. Our Water Discipline is growing, and we have exciting projects to engage motivated engineers who enjoy working on a variety of projects varying from steel and concrete to site and earthwork with regular involvement with roadway, structure, utility, and environmental aspects too.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design effort for structures on or near the water, including locks, dams, water control gates, moorings, and other water-related infrastructure.
  • Direct the development of bid documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Develop or provide input on design effort for proposals, ensuring that our clients receive the best possible solutions.
  • Mentor junior staff, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their careers.
  • Review and edit technical reports, specifications, and other documents to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Develop design criteria for projects, taking into account the unique needs and requirements of each client.
  • Oversee teams of drafters to prepare design drawings, ensuring that all work meets our high standards.
  • Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, and other aspects of the project.
  • Lead field inspections and surveys in support of design and construction, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards.
  • Develop design alternatives, considering the needs and requirements of each client.
  • Assist project managers and leaders as needed in the creation of proposals, client information, and designs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Masters' degree preferred.
  • Professional engineer licensure.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in structural engineering, with multiple needs for engineers at various experience levels.
  • Advanced knowledge in the design of concrete and steel structures.
  • Advanced knowledge of structural engineering principles and how to apply them to non-standard structures.
  • Advanced knowledge of structural engineering modeling software.
  • A desire to work on a variety of structure types.
  • A desire to work in a collaborative team environment to learn from and teach others.
  • CAD (AutoCAD, MicroStation) skills are a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Work on US Army Corps of Engineers projects or familiarity with Corps' design guidelines is a plus.
