Position Overview

The role involves managing the loading of all outgoing shipments and the unloading of incoming deliveries, ensuring a smooth logistics operation.

Key Responsibilities: The following duties are essential to this position. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.

  • Operates a propane-powered sit-down forklift safely and efficiently.
  • Organizes shipments by destination and consolidates merchandise for orders.
  • Responsible for loading finished goods for transport and unloading raw materials.
  • Moves products to pallets or crates for storage or shipment purposes.
  • Retrieves products from the production line and stores them in designated areas.
  • Delivers raw materials to production workstations as needed.
  • Conducts inspections of the forklift to ensure operational safety and identify repair needs.
  • Confirms piece counts on pallets and verifies against shipping labels.
  • Handles all materials in accordance with safety protocols.
  • Adheres to manufacturing work orders to maintain workflow efficiency.

Equipment Utilized:

  • Forklift, measuring tools, handheld tools, and power tools

Work Environment:

  • Engaged in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, including loading docks and outdoor areas.
  • Standard work hours: 40 hours per week, typically during the first shift.
  • Workdays: Monday through Friday.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

  • Regular use of personal protective equipment is mandatory for this role.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management abilities.
  • Highly motivated individual with a solid work ethic.
  • Demonstrates safe working practices and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Team-oriented, capable of following directives from supervisors and colleagues.
  • Willingness to learn and operate new machinery.
  • Proficient in using measuring instruments (gauges, tapes, rulers).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and mathematical proficiency, including the ability to calculate dimensions and quantities.

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least one (1) year of prior forklift experience in a manufacturing setting, ideally in shipping and receiving operations.
