Role SummaryThe Senior Analyst will be instrumental in providing comprehensive insights and expert evaluations of electricity markets across the United States to facilitate project development, origination, and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct detailed nodal modeling and analysis of designated electricity markets to inform investment strategies, business planning, and new opportunities.
- Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of proprietary electricity market models and databases, ensuring their relevance and effectiveness.
- Communicate and clarify market model inputs and outputs to stakeholders involved in project development, corporate affairs, and commercial operations.
- Monitor and analyze market trends and significant regulatory changes, providing timely insights.
- Establish yourself as a recognized expert in electricity markets, both internally and externally.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline, with a focus on power systems preferred.
- A robust set of quantitative and analytical skills, complemented by over 5 years of relevant experience in quantitative analysis, electricity market modeling, consulting, or energy trading.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel, along with programming skills in Python, VBA, SQL, or similar languages.
- A comprehensive understanding of the U.S. power industry, including its structures, policies, regulations, and market dynamics.
- Familiarity with trends in conventional generation, renewable energy, gas, energy storage, and distributed generation.
- A strong grasp of transmission systems, power flow fundamentals, and locational marginal pricing (LMP) formation.
- Experience in developing and utilizing market and financial models, including commercial production cost modeling software.
- Specific experience analyzing the ERCOT market is highly desirable.
