About the Role:

APluscare is seeking a skilled Music Therapist to join our team and lead our Day Habilitation Music Program. As a Music Therapist, you will be responsible for creating and implementing engaging music programs that promote creativity, self-expression, and personal growth among our Day Habilitation Individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development: Design and implement music programs and activities that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of our participants.
  • Teaching and Instruction: Teach basic music skills, rhythm, and melody to participants, and provide individualized instruction to help them develop their musical abilities and talents.
  • Fostering Creativity: Encourage participants to explore their creativity through music and express themselves through singing, playing instruments, and movement.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Evaluate participants' musical abilities and progress, and provide constructive feedback to support their growth and development.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Therapy, or a related field, and 2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Skills and Qualities: Knowledge of various musical instruments, techniques, and genres, patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help individuals explore and enjoy music.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, and move freely around the facility, lift and carry musical instruments and equipment, and demonstrate physical holds and restraints as needed.

Training and Development:

APluscare requires all staff to complete mandatory training programs, including Overview of Developmental Disabilities, Abuse and Neglect, Medication Administration, CPR & First Aid, and Agency New Hire Orientation.
