Job Title: Diesel Technician

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join our team at United Petroleum Transports. As a Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote a safe working environment and adhere to all safety protocols.
  • Prepare repair orders and maintain accurate records in compliance with company policies.
  • Work effectively and safely in the shop area and on road calls without supervision.
  • Complete records in a timely manner in compliance with company rules and requirements.
  • Comply with and continually update knowledge of all DOT regulations, federal, state, local, and company standards and requirements.
Requirements:
  • High School Education or equivalent.
  • ASE Brake certification within the first 180 days of employment.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Self-starter with detail-oriented work habits.
  • Meet qualification requirements as stipulated in Section of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as required to perform vehicle inspections.
  • Meet qualification requirements as stipulated in Section of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as required to perform brake maintenance/repairs.
  • Ability to safely operate tractor/trailer unit within terminal premises.
Technical Knowledge:
  • Ensure proper treatment of various required components, including air compressors, fuel pumps, hubs, wheels, and springs.
  • Repair specification cargo tanks if the facility has an ASME-authorized U stamp or a National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessels authorized R stamp.
  • Perform inspections on specification cargo tanks if the facility is a DOT Registered Inspector.
  • Inspect, repair, or replace domes, valves, vents, or other equipment as necessary within safety, regulatory, and company standards.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods on a concrete floor.
  • Repetitive reaching above shoulder level, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, squatting, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual activity.
  • Occasional lifting up to 100 pounds.
Working Conditions:
  • Normal shop environment with concrete floors.
  • Work on sometimes uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
