Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with college leadership to establish a comprehensive strategy for grounds enhancement and sustainability initiatives.
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the college's grounds operations, ensuring high standards of maintenance and sustainability.
  • Lead project management efforts for external construction activities related to sustainability and grounds improvement.
  • Develop and expand programs that align with the college's sustainability objectives, emphasizing educational outreach and community responsibility.
  • Facilitate the Sustainability Committee's efforts to review and refine the college's sustainability framework, incorporating feedback from diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Coordinate the formulation and execution of policies and practices that advance sustainability goals and assess their effectiveness.
  • Engage with the student body through collaboration with Student Affairs to promote sustainability initiatives and student involvement.
  • Work with academic departments to enhance curriculum offerings related to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
  • Assist in securing external funding through grant applications to support sustainability projects.
  • Act as a liaison with governmental bodies and external sustainability organizations to foster partnerships and resource sharing.
  • Identify and implement resource conservation strategies in collaboration with various campus departments.
  • Prepare and manage plans for waste removal and landscaping projects across all college locations.
  • Deliver training sessions to staff on sustainability topics to enhance awareness and engagement.
  • Lead ongoing sustainability projects, including community gardens and renewable energy initiatives, while managing volunteers and student groups.
  • Explore opportunities to integrate sustainability projects with academic programs and community engagement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the college's mission and goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability studies, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting sustainability and environmental education.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient organizational and project management abilities, capable of handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in higher education environments.
  • Three to five years of experience in sustainability or related fields.
  • Experience in grant writing and funding acquisition.

Work Environment

This position requires the ability to work in both indoor and outdoor settings, with physical demands including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate various equipment.
