We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse to join our team at Bethany for Children & Families. As a Mental Health Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality nursing services to our patients.

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Mental Health Nurse to provide assessments, treatments, and care to patients at our Community Mental Health Center (CMHC). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general nursing theory, practice, and assessment skills, as well as knowledge of psychological approaches and psychotropic medications.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Provide medication management, including injectable medications, to patients as ordered by the prescriber;
  • Document and maintain client records related to physical health and all administered medications;
  • Maintain record of sample medications and the dispensing and inventory of such medications;
  • Triage phone calls regarding medications and manage walk-in emergencies during business hours;
  • Order refills of medications as needed and prescribed;
  • Order lab work as needed and prescribed;
  • Assist clients with no insurance in obtaining medications through patient assistance programs;
  • Provide consultation and education services to clients, family members, staff, community members, agencies, and the court system;
  • Collaborate with pharmacies and other medical providers as needed;
  • Complete written correspondence to outside agencies as needed;
  • Obtain prior authorizations for medications from insurance carriers and maintain authorizations for services through insurance companies and county funding;
  • Maintain expected level of productivity as assigned by the Nurse Manager;
  • Complete billing timely and accurately and in accordance with agency policies;
  • Provide scheduled emergency and on-call services as required;
  • Maintain licensure and professional growth through seminars and workshops;
  • Represent the agency in a professional manner;
  • Attend and participate in professional staff meetings and in-services;
  • Remain flexible, accept changes in work schedule and assignments;

**Requirements:**

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse degree from a state-approved training program;
  • Current unrestricted licensure in good standing in the state of Iowa or Illinois;
  • The ability to fulfill all regulatory requirements for employees of a Community Mental Health Center in the State of Iowa or Illinois;
  • A valid driver's license and acceptable auto insurance coverage;
