Position Summary:

The Facility Food Safety & Compliance Supervisor, reporting directly to the Facility Food Safety & Compliance Manager, is responsible for upholding the food safety program standards across the northern and southern district facilities, including operations in Mexico. This role involves active participation in both second- and third-party food safety audits, providing leadership, expertise, and comprehensive oversight of food safety protocols to employees and colleagues at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Facility Food Safety & Compliance Manager in executing and maintaining all aspects of the food safety program, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Primus GFS, Organic, and Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) requirements to meet customer, governmental, and third-party food safety standards.
  • Ensure adherence to all facility food safety programs and policies by employees at all levels, providing training and corrective actions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Sanitation Foreperson to maintain an effective sanitation program.
  • Conduct Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) testing and provide guidance as needed.
  • Organize and maintain compliance documentation related to food safety.
  • Oversee the iAuditor software and develop digital forms to align with D'Arrigo food safety requirements.
  • Engage with external facilities in Arizona and Mexico to ensure compliance with food safety programs and documentation.
  • Conduct second-party inspections of external facilities and participate in third-party audits.
  • Implement corrective measures and address safety issues promptly based on audit and inspection findings.
  • Manage the FSVP, including conducting audits and inspections of potential new and existing suppliers, collaborating with D'Arrigo field food safety representatives as necessary.
  • Supervise the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) at the facility, including customer sampling requirements.
  • Develop and implement the food safety training matrix for all facility personnel, including department heads.
  • Work with operations to initiate corrective actions and preventative measures when required.
  • Oversee the cooling process in relation to necessary chemical inputs, including troubleshooting, chemical monitoring, and training.
  • Participate in emergency response protocols as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all facility safety and regulatory programs by employees at all levels.
  • Adhere to company policies and practices while representing the organization ethically in all interactions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines and adhere to timelines.
  • Contribute to fostering a positive organizational culture focused on food safety.

Work Environment:

Ability to work in cold/wet environments, including outdoor settings; capability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Travel Requirements:

Willingness to travel to Arizona and Mexico for extended periods, including potential relocation. A valid passport or approved documentation for international travel is required.

Education and Experience:

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • A degree or certification in a food-related field or equivalent experience of at least 5 years.
  • Familiarity with GFSI standards and guidelines (Primus).
  • PCQI or equivalent certification.
  • HACCP certification.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • General proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • A current valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
