JOB SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of the Housekeeping Manager is to oversee, guide, and ensure the completion of cleaning tasks assigned to Room Attendants and Housepersons in guest accommodations and public areas, maintaining the high standards of cleanliness expected by Westmont Group.
This summary outlines the key responsibilities and qualifications required for the role. It is not intended to encompass all duties or qualifications that may be necessary now or in the future. The hotel operates continuously, which necessitates flexibility in shift schedules, starting times, and hours worked throughout the week.
- Conduct thorough inspections of VIP rooms, guest accommodations, and corridors to ensure cleanliness and presentation.
- Generate work orders for carpet cleaning and ensure room attendants maintain adequate stock levels in supply closets.
- Provide training and monitor the performance of room attendants and housepersons.
- Offer organization, instruction, guidance, and support while exercising sound judgment.
- Guarantee that all tasks are completed within the designated shift.
- Compile and submit the evening room status report.
- Perform inventory checks of furniture, fixtures, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of housekeeping carts and linen/supply closets according to departmental standards.
- Upon inspecting VIP rooms, verify that all VIP amenities are properly arranged.
- Report maintenance issues in guest rooms and corridors through work orders.
- Communicate urgent maintenance issues (e.g., overflowing toilets, broken pipes, or inoperative lights) to the maintenance team.
- Facilitate special guest requests, such as additional towels, blankets, or pillows.
- Manage the opening and closing procedures of the Housekeeping Department.
- Ensure all lost and found items and guest room keys are properly accounted for.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Follow established safety and security protocols.
- Be knowledgeable about department fire prevention and emergency procedures.
- Utilize protective equipment as required.
- Report any unsafe conditions to management.
- Document accidents, injuries, near-misses, property damage, or loss to management.
- Provide a safe working environment by adhering to all safety and security regulations.
- All team members are expected to maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance, as outlined in the team member handbook.
- Perform any related duties as assigned by management.
- Assist other housekeeping personnel as necessary.
- Inspect all rooms and supervise all housekeeping staff, ensuring compliance with company policies and expectations.
- A combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities; a high school diploma is preferred.
- A minimum of six months of supervisory experience or one year of relevant housekeeping experience is required.
- Ability to read and write basic English to complete necessary documentation such as room status reports.
- Capability to provide clear direction, instruction, and guidance to team members.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
- Judgment to oversee and control the performance of team members.
- Previous experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor or Inspector is preferred, with at least one year of experience being ideal.
