Key Responsibilities:
The Creative Arts Therapist will be an integral member of the interdisciplinary team, providing therapeutic recreational and activity services to patients undergoing treatment for substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric and emotional disorders. This role involves planning, organizing, and directing medically approved recreational programs, which may include sports, drama, games, arts, and crafts. The aim is to assist patients in developing interpersonal skills, enhancing socialization, and building the confidence necessary to engage in group activities. The content of the programs will be tailored to align with patients' capabilities, needs, interests, and treatment plans.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Recreational Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, or a related field, along with relevant licensure or certification as per state practice guidelines.
- Experience: Prior experience in a psychiatric healthcare setting, particularly with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric, and geriatric patients is preferred.
- License: Current, unencumbered certification/license/registration is required.
- Additional Requirements: CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) must be obtained within 30 days. Flexibility in work hours and potential overtime may be necessary.
