Pharmacy Assistant

Thrifty White Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to provide exposure in all aspects of the community pharmacy setting and to let them practice as many pharmacist duties as they are prepared to handle (per State Board requirements).

• Customer Service: Provide excellent professional service to customers to build loyalty and repeat business.
• Insurance Claims: Help prepare hard copy insurance claims when necessary.
• Prescription Management: Obtain and document approval for refill prescriptions from physicians to ensure proper authorization is recorded on all prescriptions.
• Medication Counseling: With experience, counsel patients on their medications. Work with the Pharmacist Preceptor to learn all functions of the Pharmacist's job.
• Immunizations: Provide and promote immunizations in store and with local employers, community centers, and government officials.
• Product Knowledge: Answer patient questions in the OTC aisles and become familiar with products offered there.
• Medication Therapy Management: Support full completion of Medication Therapy Management activities. Prepare information for Pharmacists to complete Comprehensive Medication reviews and assist in these meetings with patients.
• Community Outreach: Seek out and pursue opportunities to educate at senior centers, employers, doctor's offices, public officials, and other community gatherings.
• Antibiotic Follow-up: Make antibiotic call backs after 3 days of patient being on antibiotic to see if the therapy is helping and if the patient has any questions or concerns.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The applicant must have or be able to receive a pharmacy intern license and not have any federal sanctions.
