Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in our Radiology department, you will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of patient care and diagnostic imaging. Your expertise will be essential in scheduling and completing ultrasound and vascular procedures, collaborating with radiologists and interpreting physicians, and ensuring accurate patient identification and transportation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule and complete all ultrasound and vascular procedures in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and interpreting physicians to ensure seamless procedure coordination.
  • Accurately identify and transport patients to and from the department.
  • Manage image management systems and complete department-related Hospital Information System (HIS) and Radiology Information System (RIS) functions.
  • Respond to patient inquiries and provide accurate information to customers of all age groups.
  • Instruct other radiological technologists, sonographers, and students in ultrasound and vascular procedures.
Requirements
  • Must be board eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer at hire/transfer.
  • Must be certified as a RDMS in ABD, OB/GYN, Breast, and RVT within a 2-year period.
  • May be required to alternate shifts.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License if performing as a Mobile Sonographer.
  • Must be able to read, write, and/or speak English.
  • Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Provider - American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer - American Red Cross) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintain current status.
  • Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines.
