Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Fluor. As a key member of our Advanced Technologies & Life Science team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership on complex electrical engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, and workforce forecasts
  • Establish, track, and monitor material key quantities, providing analysis and forecasts
  • Develop and review Electrical specifications, including Electrical design criteria, Electrical Equipment, Above and Underground Installation, Requirements for Mechanical Equipment, and any other Electrical Engineering related specifications to support Procurement and Construction
  • Participate in activities associated with Electrical equipment and material procurement, such as switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), uninteruptable power supplies (UPS), generators, etc
  • Perform and check cable voltage drop, lighting, short circuit, and load flow calculations, specify equipment, and solve complex to difficult engineering problems
  • Participate in people development through mentoring, development of training material, conducting training seminars, and performance appraisal input and counseling
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
Requirements
  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and ten (10) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Professional registration and membership in technical society (preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials
  • Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting
  • Managing and leading a large project
  • Project set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting, and project close-out
  • Practical field experience
  • Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet, and electronic presentation programs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineering license
  • Advanced knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC)
  • Experience with HV/MV distribution
  • Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting
  • Managing and leading a design team on a large project
  • Project set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting, and project close-out
  • Practical field experience including testing, commissioning, and start-up
  • Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet, and electronic presentation programs
