Job Title: Neurodiagnostic Technician

Join the University of Maryland Medical System as a Neurodiagnostic Technician and contribute to delivering exceptional patient care. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing routine neurological tests, including EEGs and continuous video-EEG monitoring studies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attaches electrodes to precise locations on the patient's scalp and body to record brain activity.
  • Explains procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and understanding.
  • Makes adjustments to EEG equipment to obtain optimal recordings.
  • Observes patient responses to external stimuli and analyzes waveforms to identify potential neurological disorders.
  • Notifies physicians of any difficulties or concerns during procedures.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; college courses in anatomy, physiology, and biology preferred.
  • One year of general healthcare experience, with experience in neurology and EEG testing preferred.
  • Current BLS certification required; R.EEG T credential from the ABRET EEG Registry preferred.
Working Conditions:

Works in a clean, dimly lit environment with frequent interruptions and occasional crisis situations. May be exposed to communicable diseases and hazardous materials, requiring adherence to Standard Precautions and Safe Handling Practices.

Physical Requirements:

Standing, sitting, and walking required for 0-8 hours per shift. Heavy lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling up to 200 lbs. may be required for 0-3 hours per shift.
