Job Overview

SUMMARY: This role requires expertise in aviation, particularly in metal finishing processes, along with a strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles. The position emphasizes adherence to ISO 9001 and AS9100/9102 Quality Management Systems, including First Article Inspection and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.

This role is pivotal in ensuring that products meet established specifications by meticulously assessing items against customer and engineering documentation. Responsibilities include conducting receiving, in-process, and final inspections, as well as documenting findings in the Quality System Network.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts inspections of parts and assemblies, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and documentation.
  • Utilizes precision measurement tools and equipment for accurate assessments.
  • Acts as a liaison for customers during source inspection processes.
  • Oversees calibration activities and maintains comprehensive records of measurement instruments.
  • Ensures measurement equipment operates correctly by adhering to operational guidelines.
  • Collaborates with Engineering and Operations teams to investigate and resolve non-conformities.
  • Maintains a safe and organized work environment in compliance with relevant regulations.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • In-depth knowledge of various inspection measuring devices, including thickness gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
  • Understanding of First Article Inspection standards as per AS9102.
  • Proficient in Lean Manufacturing practices and metrics.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills for product acceptability assessments.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 30 pounds and remain standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to distinguish colors and maintain visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude in a dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is advantageous.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the aviation sector.
  • Preferred: At least 2 years of inspection experience utilizing GD&T principles.
