Job Summary

The Forklift Operator will be responsible for operating an industrial forklift truck to accomplish various materials handling assignments. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and transport requested materials to and from various locations, including machines, loading docks, railroad cars, trucks, and storage areas.
  • Obtain production schedules and/or shipping orders and then identify, verify, and transport requested raw materials, equipment, or processing materials accordingly.
  • Apply understanding of machine loading capacity and loading schedule, ensuring prompt and efficient delivery of required items.
  • Use protective materials and strapping equipment to protect and secure loads; once delivered, remove strapping and wrapping, then safely dispose of waste materials in designated containers or areas.
  • Report any problems with materials or transportation to supervisor.
  • Manage and pile drums, skids, pallets, and other supplies in specified areas.
  • Service equipment as needed, reporting mechanical or electrical difficulties to truck mechanic.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.
Requirements
  • Able to multitask and troubleshoot problems.
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Experience to operate a forklift.
  • Able to count and document required information/reporting info.
  • Utilize hand tools.
  • Must be able to count accurately.
  • Must be able to use an Inventory scanner.
Education and Experience
  • Valid state motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Satisfactorily pass forklift driving training program or demonstrate safe handling of forklift in an on-site test.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to maintain single-task focus and situational awareness.
  • Must be able to move and lift up to 40-pound wooden skid or pallet.
