Job Title: Automotive Mechanic

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Automotive Mechanic to perform mechanical and cosmetic repairs on customer and internal vehicles in accordance with CarMax's high standards. As an Automotive Mechanic, you will be responsible for executing CarMax's standardized work, performing engine repairs, and ensuring the quality of our vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute CarMax's standardized work procedures
  • Perform engine repairs, including advance engine performance and drivability
  • Repair electrical systems, manual drive train and axle systems, and brake systems
  • Inspect vehicles to ensure they meet CarMax's quality standards
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to CarMax's 5S standards
  • Interact with customers in a friendly and service-oriented manner
  • Consult with customers on needed repairs and explain all recommendations and services performed
  • Close and invoice repair orders, collect payments, and manage cash
  • Locate and receive shipments of parts, receive parts into inventory, and maintain accurate inventory levels
  • Control service supplies to minimize waste
Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform multiple duties
  • Ability to read, interpret, and transcribe data to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a combination of office and outdoor environments, including inclement weather conditions
