About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team at UnityPoint Health. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our Radiation Oncology department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret and Implement Treatment Plans: Work closely with Radiation Oncologists to interpret and implement treatment plans, ensuring accurate and effective delivery of radiation therapy.
  • Patient Education and Support: Educate patients on procedures, skin care, side effects, and nutrition, providing personalized support and guidance throughout their treatment journey.
  • Treatment Delivery and Monitoring: Operate therapeutic equipment, ensure proper patient positioning, and monitor patients during treatment, maintaining a safe and efficient environment.
  • Quality Assurance and Control: Perform daily equipment warm-up and quality assurance procedures, identifying and reporting any malfunctions or issues to physics.
  • Technical Expertise and Training: Serve as a technical resource person for implementing new techniques or technology, and assist in training and evaluating student therapists as needed.
  • Effective Communication: Communicate clearly and concisely with all members of the healthcare team, patients, and families, practicing effective verbal and written communication skills.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiation Therapy.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year's experience as a staff therapist, with current knowledge of clinical practice, radiation protection, and quality assurance.
  • Licensure: Registered in Radiation Therapy by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and licensed by the State of Iowa.
