Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Lab Pack Chemist to join our team at Clean Earth. In this role, you will be responsible for consolidating, treating, storing, packing, transporting, and disposing of hazardous waste in accordance with environmentally responsible and cost-effective practices and Clean Earth policies, practices, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct large and small Lab Pack projects, segregating, packing, transporting materials, and completing documentation in accordance with all governmental, customer, and Clean Earth policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Perform on-site testing of unknown materials, adhering to all regulations and company guidelines.
  • Provide on-the-job training to Technicians and Operators in equipment operation, service line processes, and required documentation.
  • Maintain records for DOT, DEA, and other government entities as assigned, instructing, providing feedback, directing, and assisting team members in performance of job duties to complete work in accordance with all applicable regulations and internal policies, practices, and procedures.

Requirements:

  • An Associate's degree in environmental science, biology, or chemistry.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience packing, labeling, and preparing for transportation chemicals and hazardous waste.
  • A 40-hour Hazwoper certificate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in environmental, biology, or chemistry.
  • Experience leading or supervising a team.
  • A high level of knowledge of RCRA, OSHA, and DOT regulations pertaining to hazardous waste handling and transportation.
  • Awareness of DEA regulations pertaining to controlled pharmaceuticals.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • The ability to wear company-provided personal protective equipment, including a respirator, eye protection, foot protection, Tyvek coveralls, etc.
  • A CDL Class B with HazMat endorsement or willingness to obtain at company expense.
  • The ability to travel overnight via automobile/truck approximately 20% of the time.
  • The ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
