About the Role

The Sterile Processing Department is a fast-paced work environment where team members are expected to attend a 90-day orientation. During this time, they will attend an SPD 101 class, where educators will teach the Sterile Processing Department standard of work and regulations. Technicians will assemble case carts according to surgery schedules, including sterile instrumentation according to patient procedure. They will also transport case carts to the OR and place them in designated areas. Depending on the hire site, Sterile Processing Departments can anticipate 40-90 surgical cases.

Responsibilities
  • Clean, decontaminate, sterilize, and distribute medical and surgical instrumentation
  • Perform a processing cycle, including decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, inspection, and storage
  • Provide properly processed products when needed, with the patient at the center of every quality concern
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • CBSPD Certified in Sterile Processing Management (CSPM) or IAHCSMM Registered Central Services Technician, Certified within 1 year and 6 months Required
