This role involves collaborating with students, parents, and colleagues to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each assigned student's needs. You will implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs, ensuring preparation and documentation as required.
You will work closely with classroom teachers to adapt regular curricula and assist special education students in regular classes with assignments. Ongoing assessments of student achievement will be conducted through formal and informal testing.
This position also includes sponsoring extracurricular activities, creating a conducive learning environment, managing student behavior, and consulting with colleagues and external resources when necessary.
Requirements- A proven track record as a Special Education Teacher or equivalent role.
- Strong knowledge of current special education topics and methodologies.
- Experience working with students with diverse disabilities.
- The ability to create effective IEPs.
- A patient, resourceful, and resilient personality.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A valid state special education certificate.
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education; Master's degree preferred.
- Valid LBS1 license required.
