Program OverviewThe Graduate Nurse Residency Program at Johnson Memorial Hospital is designed to support the transition of new graduate nurses into professional practice. The program focuses on practice-based learning, utilizing simulation and skills lab, quality and safety for people-centered care, evidence-based practice with implementation of an evidence-based practice project, and professional development and leadership.
Requirements- Projected to graduate (or already graduated) from an accredited College/University
- Less than 12 months of RN experience or is a new graduate nurse
- Possess a valid Connecticut RN license or
- If you are a new graduate nurse, you must possess your RN license number the Monday before the Hospital Orientation start date
- Submit a current resume, with your cover letter attached, outlining relevant clinical and work experience, as well as if you are achieving a higher degree
- The cover letter should state you are a nurse resident, the number of months you have been practicing as an RN (should be less than 12) and your professional short- and long-term goals
During the program, residents will find a mixture of computer-based and classroom-based learning, as well as state-of-the-art simulation learning. The program focuses on practice-based learning utilizing simulation and skills lab, quality and safety for people-centered care, evidence-based practice with implementation of an evidence-based practice project, and professional development and leadership.
