Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Scheduler to join our team at Maryland Oncology Hematology. The successful candidate will be responsible for scheduling patient appointments and tests in an efficient and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer all incoming calls and direct calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Schedule new patients, patient referrals, and returning patients in the computer system in accordance with physician and/or office guidelines.
  • Obtain and enter all authorization and correspondence relating to referrals in patients' charts and/or electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Collect co-pays, deductible, and other out-of-pocket amounts at the time of visit.
  • Maintain the primary office scheduling template containing all physician meetings, satellite schedule, rounding, and call coverage.
  • Arrange for patients to have financial counseling as needed.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/practice.
  • Follow policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the front office.
  • Cover for other front office functions as requested.
  • Prepare correspondence, memos, forms, and other typing as requested by the supervisor.
  • Schedule outpatient appointments/testing/surgeries and hospital admissions upon request.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum three years of office experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding required.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
