Job Description

OSI Optoelectronics is a leading manufacturer of standard and custom photodiodes and optical sensors for use in aerospace, defense, commercial, and medical applications. With over 30 years of combined experience in the field of optoelectronics, our company has developed innovative solutions to bring a better quality of life to the world.

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to support various military, aerospace, and space level microelectronics and optoelectronic programs. The successful candidate will have a strong background in electronics engineering, with experience in manufacturing processes such as die attach, wirebond, and hermetic sealing.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and propose package design/selection, define silicon chip attach method, suggest electro-optical test parameters, and develop assembly sequence/methods process travelers.
  • Review all aspects of the various programs under responsibility for schedule compliance, risk mitigation, and program build/delivery recovery.
  • Advise sales and communicate with customers on program status, including weekly and daily updates.
  • Interface with Test Engineering, Quality Engineering, Device Engineering, Document Control, Process Engineering, Planning, and Purchasing to lead and spearhead all efforts requiring involvement to ensure successful documentation/drawing submittals, material procurement, silicon wafer starts, unique specification/procedure generation, Project Milestone Timelines, assembly travelers, and supplier guidance.
  • Provide sustaining engineering support to assigned programs.

  • Report quality problems or defects to management for corrective action.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required; Mechanical/Electrical Engineering preferred; specific hands-on experience will be considered in lieu of formal advanced education.
  • Minimum 3 years of Product or Project Engineering experience in the field of semiconductor product manufacturing required.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as die attach, wirebond, die shear, fine and gross leak testing, wirebond pull, hermetic sealing, projection weld, seam seal, laser weld, DAP Sealing, and soldering.
  • Technical experience in the field of microelectronics/photonics required, primarily with silicon, InGaAs diode, and GaAs technology.
  • Knowledge of military standards required.
  • Mechanical design experience and ability to create custom package, substrate, window cap configurations preferred.
