Medical Director for Geriatric Psychiatry Inpatient Care

Randstad Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Board Certified and/or Board Eligible Geriatric Psychiatrist to join our team in providing ongoing locum tenens coverage at a hospital just south of Boston, Massachusetts. This opportunity presents a chance to work in a dynamic environment with a dedicated team while utilizing your expertise in treating patients with complex psychiatric needs.
About the Role:
As a Geriatric Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional patient care as an inpatient physician. Your primary focus will be on treating 7-8 patients daily from Monday to Friday, with the option to consider longer-term coverage or short-term engagements based on your availability. The facility is well-equipped with an in-house Hospitalist and RRT onsite, ensuring seamless support when needed. Your responsibilities will include admissions, PSY H evaluations, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
Patient Interaction:
You will have regular interactions with patients, their families, and other healthcare staff. A key aspect of this role is working closely with patients to develop personalized treatment plans, monitor progress, and make adjustments as necessary. Effective communication, empathy, and a patient-centered approach are essential in building trust and delivering outstanding care.
Schedule and Work-Life Balance:
Your schedule will typically involve working Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with 1:2 evening call and 1:6 call for the ED. While some flexibility is expected, the emphasis is on maintaining a healthy work-life balance. This means that you can manage your time effectively, prioritize tasks, and take breaks when needed to maintain your physical and mental well-being.
Location and Commute:
The hospital is conveniently located near Boston, making it accessible by public transportation or driving. You will not need to commute frequently, and most interactions will occur within the facility or via phone consultations.
Compensation:
The estimated annual salary for this position is around $250,000-$300,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits, bonuses, and additional compensation may apply, depending on performance and qualifications.
Requirements:
- Board Certification and/or Board Eligibility in Geriatric Psychiatry
- Excellent clinical skills and experience in treating geriatric patients
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
