Key Responsibilities

The HVAC/R Operations Manager supervises a team of technicians responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems for commercial clients. This role involves close collaboration with service and installation teams, dispatch staff, and fellow managers to ensure customer satisfaction while achieving departmental objectives.

  • Regularly liaises with dispatch to ensure personnel are scheduled according to skill level, efficiency, and training needs.
  • Provides daily updates to dispatch regarding project details, estimated completion times, labor hours, and materials used.
  • Reviews work orders, invoices, and time reports for accuracy while maintaining minimal accounts receivable.
  • Develops and oversees budgets, goals, and objectives to ensure departmental profitability.
  • Maintains communication with suppliers and factory representatives regarding warranty claims, product recalls, operational issues, and other concerns.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent and successful experience in HVAC and Refrigeration service management
  • Preferred: Two years of technical training or a bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to perform advanced maintenance and service on HVAC and Refrigeration systems
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook, with the ability to learn new software
  • EPA Universal Certification required
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks
  • Ability to generate innovative ideas and develop processes to enhance the service department
  • Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, operational instructions, and procedural manuals
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with management, executive leadership, support staff, and technicians
  • Willingness to work non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
