Soliant is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team in a school-based setting. As a contract Occupational Therapist, you will work with children in a local school, providing essential services to support their physical, emotional, and cognitive development.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluation and Assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations of students on your caseload, including reviewing medical history, interviewing students, and observing their performance of various tasks.
- Progress Monitoring: Periodically assess student progress toward goals defined in their Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Goal Setting: Propose appropriate goals for new referrals and recommend Occupational Therapy services to support those goals.
- IEP Development: Where necessary, propose adjustments to student IEPs to ensure they receive the best possible support.
- Therapeutic Interventions: Help students fine-tune or relearn daily living tasks, demonstrate exercises, and recommend activities to support children with physical disabilities or gross and fine motor skill development.
- Environmental Assessment: Evaluate the school environment to identify potential accessibility improvements.
- Family Education: Educate students' families on how to accommodate and care for them, including recommending special equipment and instructing on its use.
- Documentation: Assess and record student activities and progress for evaluation or billing purposes.
- Experience: Minimum 1+ years of Occupational Therapy experience, preferably in pediatrics.
- Licensure: MA Occupational Therapist license.
- Competencies: Excellent communication skills, solid organization skills, ability to prioritize and manage workload, ability to create a supportive environment for children, and willingness to collaborate in a team-oriented setting.
