Job Summary

We are seeking an Electrical Apprentice to join our team at Overland Contracting Inc. As an Electrical Apprentice, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills in the electrical trade, working alongside experienced electricians and journeymen.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist experienced electricians and journeymen in performing electrical tasks, including reading blueprints, diagnosing electrical problems, and repairing electrical systems.
  • Learn to use hand and power tools, such as drills, screwdrivers, and pipe threaders, to assist electricians in performing their duties.
  • Perform minor repairs, such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, and keep supplies and parts in order.
  • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, and equipment as needed.
  • Clean work areas and restock supplies and materials as necessary.
  • Participate in all safety-related processes and programs, and engage with your work team to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements
  • Experience working as an entry-level electrician or similar craft as a helper or laborer, and a basic knowledge of the electrical craft.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions, and to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have all necessary licenses for the jurisdiction in which the work is to be performed.
Work Environment

This position will be working in a typical construction site environment, which may include exposure to inclement weather, dust, wind, snow, rain, etc. The position will also require working in cramped workspaces and getting into awkward positions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, be able to lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds, and be able to stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas.

The selected candidate will be required to participate in all safety-related processes and programs, and to engage with their work team to ensure a safe working environment.
