The J83 Cardiac VIP Unit, also referred to as the '1921 Suites', is tailored specifically for the care of high-profile medical-surgical and cardiac step-down patients.

Caregivers in this unit provide comprehensive care to patients undergoing cardiothoracic, spine, urology, plastics, colorectal, orthopedics, neurology, bariatric, and transplant surgeries.
This unit emphasizes a healing environment, incorporating therapies such as Reiki and Massage Therapy, alongside Bundled Care practices.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), your responsibilities will include delivering direct nursing care, implementing and monitoring patient care plans, administering medications and treatments, assessing and coordinating discharge plans, and diligently monitoring, recording, and communicating patients' conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver direct nursing care in alignment with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans effectively.
  • Document and communicate patient conditions as necessary.
  • Evaluate and update care plans to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Coordinate care among various disciplines for well-rounded patient support.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments per approved nursing protocols.
  • Carry out physician and nursing orders diligently.
  • Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
  • Identify educational needs of patients and families, considering cultural and special concerns.
  • Provide relevant teaching and educational materials.
  • Ensure patient and family understanding of educational content.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through formal and informal education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is required for those in Critical Care areas.
  • Additional certifications may be required based on specific unit needs.

Complexity of Work:
Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently. Must be capable of functioning in a high-pressure environment and responding appropriately.


Experience:
Minimum one year of current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting is required for acute care roles. Equivalent experience in skilled nursing facilities or rehabilitation settings may be considered.
Physical Requirements:
Requires a full range of motion, including lifting and handling patients, manual dexterity, and coordination. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and work under stressful conditions.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Adhere to standard precautions and utilize personal protective equipment as required.
