Senior Nuclear Medicine Imaging Specialist

- Estimated Salary: $120-$150 per hour based on 12 hours shifts and 36.0 hours per week, totaling approximately $4,320 - $5,400 per week, or around $180,000 - $224,800 per year
- Radiopharmaceutical Administration:
- Administer radioactive substances (radiopharmaceuticals) to patients, ensuring correct dosage and safe handling.
- Monitor patients during administration, checking for immediate adverse reactions or complications.
- Dispose of radioactive materials according to safety protocols.
- Imaging and Diagnostic Procedures:
- Operate nuclear medicine imaging equipment, such as gamma cameras, PET scanners, and SPECT scanners.
- Perform diagnostic imaging tests to capture detailed images of organs, tissues, and bones.
- Position patients correctly for optimal imaging results.
- Adjust equipment settings to obtain clear, accurate, and high-quality images.
- Patient Interaction and Preparation:
- Explain procedures to patients, alleviating concerns and ensuring they understand the process, risks, and benefits.
- Verify patient identity and medical history to ensure proper radiopharmaceutical use and test procedures.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures.
- Image Analysis and Documentation:
- Review images to ensure diagnostic quality and proper labeling.
- Assist physicians by providing preliminary image analysis and noting abnormalities.
- Maintain accurate patient records.
- Equipment Maintenance and Safety:
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of imaging equipment.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to equipment or radiopharmaceuticals.
- Ensure equipment meets safety standards, particularly in handling radioactive materials.
- Follow infection control and radiation safety protocols.
- Radiation Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety and regulatory guidelines regarding radioactive substances.
- Monitor and manage radiation exposure to patients.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety standards and best practices.
- Collaboration with Healthcare Team:
- Work closely with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Communicate effectively to discuss patient conditions and interpret diagnostic images.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Patient Care and Follow-up:
- Provide post-procedure care instructions to patients.
- Monitor patients during recovery and assist with immediate medical concerns.
- Offer information regarding follow-up imaging or treatment required.
