Your expertise, knowledge, and exceptional skills will assist BHN in the following areas:
  • Delivering direct care within the defined scope of practice to effectively execute patients' care plans.
  • Overseeing the self-administration of physical and psychiatric medications, along with monitoring the health of residents and the milieu staff responsible for medication management.
  • Administering detoxification medications in line with established protocols and physician orders.
  • Educating individuals about their conditions, treatment options, and expected outcomes.
  • Gathering data related to the status and needs of individuals served.
  • Ensuring the confidentiality of individuals' information at all times, adhering to 42 CFR regulations.

The New View program at BHN provides services to female-identified patients who have been civilly committed through legal proceedings to a designated facility for substance use disorder treatment. The program encompasses acute treatment services (ATS) and clinical stabilization services (CSS).

What qualifications are we seeking in a Practical Nursing Specialist?
  • Degree or diploma in Nursing (mandatory).
  • Active Nursing License from the Massachusetts Board of Registration as a Practical Nurse (mandatory).
  • Minimum of one year of nursing experience (preferred).
  • Ability to apply the nursing process effectively to individuals and their families.
  • Collaborative skills to work with other healthcare providers.
  • Capability to delegate tasks to peers and other caregivers according to their expertise.
  • Understanding of utilization and review standards and their implementation.
  • Advocacy skills for individuals served.
  • Empathy and understanding when working with individuals facing addiction, including those with co-occurring disorders.
  • Knowledge of ethical and legal standards related to substance abuse treatment.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance and CARF standards.
