Role Overview

The Automation Project Engineer plays a crucial role in realizing our clients' visions for automated storage solutions. This position is responsible for overseeing all engineering activities from project initiation to final handover.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison for integrators and end-user engineering teams on assigned projects.
  • Participate in both internal and external project kickoff meetings.
  • Review and assess technical documentation provided by clients and internal teams to develop detailed approval drawings for production.
  • Coordinate the preparation of assembly and PE stamped drawings.
  • Provide essential information to facilitate order processing.
  • Support design and production efforts to ensure timely project completion within budget constraints.
  • Assist Project Management in obtaining quotes for installation and contractor services, and support the assembly team during installation and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Project Management to source necessary materials and services.
  • Manage change orders and communicate any cost variances to relevant stakeholders.
  • Work alongside Electrical Controls Engineering to define electro-mechanical specifications.
  • Engage with Software Engineering to ensure seamless integration of our automation solutions with client systems.
  • Provide technical support to Site Managers and offer solutions to technical challenges.
  • Document project progress and maintain comprehensive records.
  • Occasionally visit job sites for inspections, measurements, and to provide engineering insights.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and external partners to ensure effective integration of our solutions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in robotics and warehouse automation to enhance engineering strategies.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed reports and presentations on project status and recommendations to management and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations in all proposed solutions.
  • Work with integrator engineering teams to facilitate the connection of their platforms with our technology.
Qualifications:

Essential Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Several years of experience in post-sale engineering within the material handling and warehousing sector, specifically with automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS).
  • Proficient in mechanical and robotic system design.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, strategic thinking, and project management skills.
  • Ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Additional Requirements:
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites across the United States and occasionally to Canada, approximately 10-15% of the time.
  • Flexibility to align work hours with European colleagues, typically starting the workday at 8 am CST.
