Position Overview: The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist operates advanced imaging technology to obtain critical diagnostic images as directed by healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts MRI scans of various body parts including the brain, spine, and extremities, tailoring scanning parameters to accommodate diverse patient anatomies. Utilizes advanced imaging techniques to optimize image quality.
- Selects suitable equipment for imaging procedures, ensuring the appropriate use of body coils.
- Adheres closely to physician directives, preparing and managing MRI machinery, positioning patients accurately, and capturing the required diagnostic images.
- Recognizes significant anatomical abnormalities and adjusts imaging parameters to deliver relevant data for analysis.
- Executes advanced imaging studies such as Diffusion Imaging and MR Angiography, along with image reformats and 3-D reconstructions.
- Employs magnetic resonance technology while minimizing exposure risks to both patients and self.
- Follows established imaging protocols, adjusting parameters such as contrast levels, scanning durations, and image reconstruction techniques.
- Archives and retrieves imaging data efficiently.
- Conducts quality assurance checks on imaging procedures and equipment, documenting any discrepancies and coordinating necessary maintenance.
- Authorized to initiate and discontinue IV lines for contrast procedures in accordance with departmental guidelines, and capable of identifying and responding to IV contrast reactions.
- Proficient in operating IV Contrast Power Injectors.
- Ensures patient identification and reviews requisitions for consistency and accuracy.
- Responsible for comprehensive patient screening prior to MRI room entry.
- Reviews completed examinations for technical precision, presenting findings to radiologists and communicating essential information to the care team.
- Ensures proper identification of anatomical orientation on all images and maintains accurate film identification.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures.
- Performs additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiology or a related field.
- Registered with the ARRT, as required by state regulations.
- Preferred one year of experience in a similar role.
- Adheres to all relevant professional standards.
- Completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
- Current CPR certification, if applicable.
- TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray as required.
- Valid Health certificate as per contract or state regulations.
- Must meet all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Successful completion of new hire training relevant to the job site.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
- Strong communication skills with proficiency in English.
- Computer literacy is essential.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Certifications:
- ARRT (MR) certification is mandatory.
- Washington State RT License is required.
- Minimum of one year of MRI experience is necessary.
