Job Summary

Lone Star College is seeking a Part-Time Fire Science Instructor to join our team. As a Fire Science Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in the Fire Science program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and coach students in the Fire Science program
  • Supervise and assist in skills instruction for students
  • Maintain regular communication and coordination with course instructors
  • Assist in fire service-related skill evolutions and/or scenarios
  • Submit student learning reports and grade sheets
  • Remain informed of new technologies in Fire Science and approaches to learning
  • Monitor laboratory safety protocols
  • Assist in maintaining program equipment and facilities
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of experience in Fire Science
  • Texas Commission on Fire Protection Level I Instructor or Fire Education Specialist Level I or International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) in Fire Service Instructor 1 or higher
  • Texas Commission on Fire Protection Field Examiner
  • Texas Department of Health Emergency Care Attendant (ECA) or higher
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience
  • Three years of experience as a firefighter with a 911 service provider
Working Conditions

The Fire Science Instructor will work in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards as well as in Fire Science labs where safety precautions must be observed at all times.
