Indiana University is seeking a highly skilled Industrial Equipment Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of equipment and machinery.
Key Responsibilities:- Install, maintain, and repair equipment and machinery, including pumps, electric motors, conveyors, fans/blowers, gear boxes, and precision bearings.
- Use precision measuring, alignment, metering, and set-up tools to install, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, or schematics to determine proper methods and work procedures.
- Identify and replace worn or broken parts, and use hand tools or machine tools to rebuild/repair re-usable parts.
- Perform planned and preventive maintenance on various types of equipment, including changing belts and filters, lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, motors, or pumps, cleaning air handling units, checking fan/blower velocity, and/or performing various visual inspections.
- May perform water treatments, including collecting and testing water samples, and adding appropriate chemicals to maintain correct levels and balances.
- Perform other general building maintenance as needed.
- Participate in the training of apprentices and/or other workers as needed.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including general building maintenance duties.
- Drive University vehicles as needed.
- Work any shift as needed, including 24-hour a day emergency response as needed.
- Assist with snow removal activities as necessary.
- Set up and operate various types of rigging, including hoists, cables/chains, cranes, pulleys, etc., to move, locate, and/or relocate equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).
- 5 years of verifiable journey level experience.
- Certificate in relevant DOL apprenticed trade.
- Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire.
- Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.
- Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills.
- Maintains a high degree of professionalism.
- Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills.
- Demonstrates a high commitment to quality.
- Possesses flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
