About the Role

\Helpers create complex systems that handle vast amounts of data. To ensure these systems operate within legal boundaries, Databricks is seeking a Privacy Legal Counsel to join our team.\

The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of substantive legal experience, preferably both in-house and at a law firm, with expertise in privacy, SaaS, marketing, and/or technology.

Key responsibilities include:

  • \
  • Counseling commercial teams on data protection-related provisions in contracts.\
  • Partnering with marketing, sales, and procurement teams to assess potential privacy and security risks.\
  • Supporting compliance with global privacy laws by drafting notices, managing internal policies, and researching regulatory guidance.\
  • Facilitating Privacy by Design through PIAs and DPIAs for new processing activities.\
  • Drafting external communications and updating internal procedures.\
  • Researching and evaluating the impact of global privacy laws on business initiatives.\
  • Providing legal counsel to several business partners and supporting the company's privacy compliance program.\
  • Assisting with data subject rights requests, data inventory, and other critical processes.\
  • Collaborating with distributed teams to manage competing demands and client expectations.\
  • Exercising good judgment when raising issues and working with others.\
  • Communicating effectively through written and verbal channels.\
  • Managing time efficiently and prioritizing tasks in a rapidly expanding environment.\
  • Working independently with minimal supervision while maintaining excellent communication skills.\
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of cloud and software technologies, as well as global privacy regulations.\
  • Participating in the development of internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with emerging regulations.\
  • Liaising with key stakeholders to complete PIAs and review DPIAs for new processing activities.\
  • Developing and implementing effective solutions to address potential risks and regulatory requirements.\
  • Engaging with the legal team to navigate evolving global privacy laws and regulations.\
  • Contributing to the growth of Databricks' privacy team by providing guidance and support to colleagues.\
  • Supporting the implementation of data protection strategies across various business units.\
  • Ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives by staying informed about industry trends and developments.\
  • Providing training and education to colleagues on relevant topics.\
  • Maintaining accurate records of interactions and decisions related to data protection.\
  • Staying up-to-date with changes in global privacy laws and regulations.\
  • Monitoring and analyzing emerging trends and developments in the field.\
  • Identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address them.\
  • Enhancing the effectiveness of critical processes and ensuring seamless integration with existing procedures.\
  • Coordinating with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.\
  • Representing Databricks in meetings with external parties, such as government agencies or clients.\
  • Participating in project planning and execution to drive business outcomes.\
  • Consistently demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills.\
  • Demonstrating adaptability in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.\
  • Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information discreetly.\
  • Communicating complex ideas clearly and concisely.\
