About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Underground Construction Foreman to join our team at Ivy H. Smith Company, LLC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for installing underground telecommunications cabling and ensuring the safe and efficient completion of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install underground telecommunications cabling and ensure compliance with contract and process specifications
  • Direct, coordinate, train, inspect, and monitor crew members to ensure quality and production goals are met
  • Ensure employees meet all safety, quality, and production goals according to company rules, regulations, and standards
  • Operate diesel or gasoline powered equipment to/from/on jobsites and locate underground cable
  • Perform general construction work, including physical labor, under the direction of a supervisor
  • Inspect trucks/equipment for defects and maintain daily production sheets, OSHA logs, and other reporting
Requirements
  • At least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States
  • Prior experience in the Telecommunications or Utility Construction/Maintenance industry (3+ years preferred)
  • Valid Class A CDL License and ability to operate various types of utility trucks, equipment, and hand tools safely
  • Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps to identify underground utilities
  • Capable of lifting/carrying 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed with or without assistance
  • Ability to work as needed, including overtime, after hours, on weekends, for emergencies, or on-call, and in all weather conditions
