Position Overview

The Manchester Township Police Department is currently seeking applications for the role of Class III Special Police Officer. This position is essential for ensuring safety and security within the educational institutions of the Manchester Township School District.

Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Chief of Police, the Class III Special Police Officer will:

  • Conduct safety and security operations within the school environment.
  • Collaborate with school officials to enhance safety protocols.
  • Maintain a visible presence to deter potential threats.
Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a retired law enforcement officer under the age of 65.
  • Must have served as a fully qualified, full-time police officer in any municipality or county.
  • Must be capable of passing firearms qualifications as per state guidelines.
  • Must successfully complete a medical examination, psychological evaluation, and drug screening.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be a resident of New Jersey.
  • Must pass a thorough background investigation.
  • Must hold a New Jersey PTC Basic Police Officer or New Jersey State Police Academy Certification.
  • Must demonstrate physical capability to perform the required duties.
Additional Requirements

Applicants are required to provide a letter of good standing from their previous law enforcement agency, detailing their employment history and retirement status.
