Position Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Linux professional with profound expertise in RedHat and Debian operating systems. The ideal candidate will be adept at defining, designing, and integrating Linux systems within a Windows domain environment utilizing automation methodologies. This role involves proposing and implementing enhancements (both software and hardware) to elevate the performance and reliability of Linux systems within Riverside Research's infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of Linux, particularly with RedHat and/or Debian operating systems.
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for Linux systems across the Riverside Research enterprise, including troubleshooting and resolving operational issues.
  • Document installation and configuration procedures for Linux systems and update existing documentation in Confluence.
  • Develop and maintain Ansible scripts and playbooks for the installation and management of Linux images.
  • Oversee the automation and orchestration of Linux operating systems.
  • Maintain local repositories for Rocky and Ubuntu Linux, ensuring that clients and virtual machines are updated to meet security compliance.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures associated with Linux installations and virtual machines on the corporate network.
  • Coordinate significant IT changes with relevant stakeholders, including management, infrastructure, and information security teams.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required, with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years of experience with a Master's degree.

Essential Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience as a systems administrator, including a minimum of 2 years focused on Linux.
  • Experience with the traditional IT stack, including Clients, Networking, Servers, and Storage.
  • Proven experience managing and supporting Linux-based operating systems within a Windows-based domain (Active Directory).
  • Experience in upgrading, installing, and configuring application software and computer hardware.
  • Familiarity with orchestration and automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Ability to obtain Security+ or a relevant certification within 180 days of employment.
  • Capability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Knowledge of DevOps and DevSecOps principles.
  • Possession of Security+ or a relevant certification.

Compensation

The compensation range for this position is between $90,000 and $105,000, reflecting the typical salary based on experience, location, and other relevant factors.
