Phlebotomy Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Phlebotomy Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our patient services department. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of phlebotomy services, managing staff, and maintaining a safe and professional work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily operations of patient services department, including mobile phlebotomy, in-office phlebotomy, and patient service centers.
- Implement standard operating procedures for phlebotomy services in accordance with Quest Diagnostics guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local licensure requirements, working with the QA and Medical Director's offices.
- Oversee safety, maintenance, and cleanliness of facilities, including upgrades and repairs.
- Perform site visits at assigned facilities and document findings, conducting QA audits as needed.
- Relocate, open, or close patient service centers, in-office phlebotomy sites, and remote relocation locations.
- Oversee inventory process for supervised facilities.
- Participate in the interview, selection, and hiring of new employees.
- Responsible for training, coaching, supervision, and development of staff.
- Monitor ongoing performance of employees, providing corrective action and counseling as needed.
- Hold regularly scheduled meetings for dissemination of information to staff.
- Ensure all employees meet requirements for driving on company business.
- Track and enter time and attendance of employees.
- Prepare schedules with minimal overtime for employees, maintaining adequate coverage for all facilities.
- Prepare month-end reports.
- May perform training and onboarding of new clients.
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints effectively.
- Responsible for ensuring Quest improvement and standardization initiatives are implemented.
- Assist in preparation of annual budget for areas of responsibility, maintaining budget control throughout the year.
- Supervisor participates to ensure fiscal responsibilities of the department are met, including implementation of cost containment programs, management of overtime, and participation in standardization initiatives and needs assessment for capital expenditures.
- Participate on process improvement teams or other initiatives to meet management objectives.
- Organize and lead projects within the workgroup and with cross-functional groups, presenting information as needed.
- Demonstrate and live the Values of Quest Diagnostics.
- Minimum two years of prior supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership experience.
- Minimum five years of experience in phlebotomy, laboratory, or other healthcare environments.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment.
- Extensive use of phone and PC.
- Prolonged standing and sitting.
- Fine dexterity with hands and steadiness.
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting 40 pounds, and carrying up to 15 pounds for several minutes at a time.
- Talking.
- Vision - requires constant mental visual attention to details.
- Walking.
- Balancing.
- Bending and kneeling.
- Pushing and pulling.
- Reaching and twisting.
- The position requires the ability to effectively communicate in English.
- Must be flexible and available based on staffing requirements, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Demonstrates good organization, communication, and interpersonal skills, able to manage concerns of patients and employees in a professional manner.
- Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Proficient in PC skills, including experience using MS Office applications.
- Must be able to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise consistent, independent, sound judgment.
- Must be able to manage individuals in multiple geographies and locations.
- Position requires travel.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required).
- Phlebotomy certification (required in certain states, e.g., California, Nevada, Washington, and Louisiana).
