At the YMCA of Metro Atlanta, we're seeking a highly motivated and experienced Camp Specialty Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our summer camp program, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality educational and recreational experiences to children aged 6 weeks to 12 years.
Job Summary:The Camp Specialty Instructor will work under the direction of the Day Camp Lead to provide guidance, safety, leadership, and education to children participating in our camp program. This role requires a strong background in a specific area of expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities:- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that promote skill development and fun learning experiences for children.
- Provide exceptional customer service to parents and children, ensuring a positive and safe environment for all participants.
- Collaborate with other staff members to plan and deliver camp activities, ensuring a well-rounded and inclusive program.
- Monitor and maintain a safe and healthy environment for staff and children, adhering to YMCA safety standards and protocols.
- Communicate effectively with parents and staff, providing regular updates and feedback on program activities and child progress.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience working with children in a structured setting, preferably in a summer camp or educational environment.
- Background and expertise in a specific area of specialty, such as arts and crafts, sports, or STEM education.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to customer service and hospitality.
- Prior experience working with teens and young adults.
- Current certifications in First Aid/CPR and any other required certifications for the position.
